Our Story

Asha Gautam was founded in 1998 by Asha Gupta as a passion project rooted in her deep love for Indian arts and crafts. What began as an intuitive journey of design soon evolved into one of India’s most distinctive couture houses.

When her son Gautam, a management graduate who later studied in NIFT as well, with a profound appreciation for Indian textiles, joined the brand, a new design language emerged—one that blended heritage weaves with contemporary silhouettes. Together, the mother–son duo travelled across more than 25 remote craft regions of India, working closely with artisan clusters to revive fading traditions and reinterpret them for modern bridal couture.

From Banarasi and Paithani textile interventions to intricate craft techniques such as Bandhani, Kalamkari, appliqué, and rare French knot embroidery, Asha Gautam’s creations are rooted in the richness of handmade traditions.

At its core, the brand is committed not only to preserving Indian craftsmanship but to sustaining the artisans behind it through fair wages, dignified work, and consistent opportunities.

Today, Asha Gautam extends its storytelling beyond garments into accessories, wall art, and lifestyle expressions—creating a larger ecosystem for handmade crafts to thrive.

“We envision Asha Gautam as a centre of design excellence for Indian arts and crafts, collaborating with over 5,000 artisans to ensure even the rarest traditions flourish.”— Gautam Gupta
